#29 – The Hives

Greetings from Stockholm, team, where we had a fantastic DCWT event yesterday. To pass along some of that Swedish energy, today I am sharing with you an album by The Hives, who are Swedish.

The Hives are a rock band that bring some garage-rock and punk elements to their energy-laden rock’n’roll. They are known for being loud and audacious – in a good way – and it suits their brazen persona; in fact, it actually did them well:

After releasing their first two albums in 1997 and 2000 to moderate success, they decided to put out a “greatest hits” record (“Your New Favourite Band”, 2001), before even ever really having had a hit. The album, however, made some of their songs hits retroactively and launched them on the global stage.

Fake it ’til ya make it!

So enjoy that greatest hits album, as well as one of my favorites by them, “Love in Plaster” – a song that was released later and didn’t quite catch on as much as it did for me. All the more reason to showcase it, and maybe you’ll enjoy it 😀

Have a great weekend!
